2 Days in Belgrade [Travel Diary]

Are you heading to Belgrad and don't know what to do and see there? Good thing is that Belgrade really isn't a big city - you'll get around quick and easy! I was there in March of 2026 as part of a trip across several Balkan countries and here is what I believe you should know. First things first... Belgrade is the capital of Serbia, a fairly "young" country considering that is has only been independent since 2006. Before that it was part of the (first Socialist then only) Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. As of April 2026 it's estimated to be home of 6,6 million people who are fairly young on average too (44.7 years!) - 1.1 million of which are living in Belgrade. Their currency is the Serbian Dinar (RSD) and though it's very easy to get around with your Visa and Mastercard (or other brands) due to their history it's not as easy for the people there to open up a bank account for the same online banks you might know or even use their accounts to connect ...

How To Spend 2 Days in Bucharest [Travel Diary]

This year I’m exploring the Balkan countries a bit more and decided to start in Bucharest and then heading over to Belgrade afterwards. For me, the main stereotype I heard is how poor this part of Europe is and I barely know anybody who was there yet either. With a short time frame of 2 days you also have to decide what you want to prioritize. Having said that, I didn’t expect that our host would be so kind to show my partner & I around the city for 2h after we got there! It’s always great to get insides from a local! But let’s start off with the basics: How to get from the airport to the city center: By public transport: Take bus number 100 - it takes about 40 minutes to stop Piata Unirii and costs 60 cents (simply tap with your credit card when you get on the bus) Hint! Google Maps doesn’t show the pick up location correctly!! The bus goes every 15 minutes therefore missing it isn't that big of an issue but it still sucks when you want to get going... By taxi: There are taxis...

Is Budapest Worth A Trip? A 3-Day Travel Diary

I recently stayed in Budapest for a few days - one of the most hyped cities in Europe. You probably have seen pictures of the giant parliament building or might have heard of the thermal spring baths in Hungary (Budapest has about 10% of them). Question is: Is it worth seeing? Let’s start from the beginning. How to get from the airport to the city center: To get from A to B is probably one of the most forward and easiest ways in Europe! Take bus # 100E (or alternatively 200E) from the terminal which will bring you right to Astoria M (That’s one of the metro stations in the city). The bus leaves every 10 minutes even on Sundays, take about 30 minutes and costs 2,500 Ft (= 6,50€). From there you can either walk to your accommodation or switch to the next metro, trolley or bus. As tourist the easiest way to get public transport tickets is to purchase them by machine/ by the bus driver with credit card directly or using the BudapestGo app. I personally preferred the later as I usually took...
