Thailand & Vietnam for 16 days - What I learned during my trip

If this is the first time you're reading my blog, you might not know that I wrote what I planned to take with on this trip (you can find the blog post here ) and how my trips to Ho Chi Minh City , Da Nang & surroundings, Ao Nang and Bangkok went. The people  For both what surprised me the most was how different the people and the mentalities were. I have been in Japan a few years back and Japanese people are super shy towards foreigners (if they have to speak English) and their personalities are friendly but not overwhelming. Vietnamese people are definitely kind and from the several conversations I had, they are mostly thankful for tourists as they help to bring in money for the country- this might sound bad at first but consider that tourists have only been a regular thing for the last 20 years. Vietnam was hit hard after the Vietnam War (which they actually refer to the "American War") and the country itself is located mostly by the sea. In general, they get hit ...

Travel Diary Bangkok in 2 Days

Bangkok is one of the biggest hubs in Asia and probably THE biggest in South East Asia. If you're flying from Europe, chances are you will at least have a layover here so why not stay a few days and explore the city a bit? Basic facts Bangkok is the biggest city and also the capital of Thailand. More than 10% of the countries population live here and a lot of expats of course. It might not be as beautiful as Krabi or Phuket but the city is vibrant and everybody will find something they like about Bangkok: From the almost mandatory day trip to Ayutthaya (a temple town I'm sure you have seen), to the biggest Chinatown in the world (apart from China itself of course) or one of the more than 400 temples in the city. How to get to/ from the airport First part and it's already tricky because Bangkok actually has two airports and both are internationally used.   If you arrive/ fly from BKK aka Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi, the airport is east of the city. You can easily grab the City li...

4 Days in Krabi, Thailand (Travel Report)

Day 1: Arrival Already one week into our trip, we landed at the Krabi airport in the afternoon. As we flew from Da Nang (Vietnam) over Bangkok, we already went through immigations in-between and were out of the airport quick and easy. Now if you book a resort they might have a shuttle service but we didn't therefore I ordered a Grab taxi to get us to Ao Nang, a well known beach town in central Thailand. It took around 40 minutes and cost 380 Baht (= 10,25€; prices fluctuate based on availability though). Having left our bags at the hotel we headed to see the sunset by the beach and grab a bite to eat. Krabi is a touristic area but it's not as much of a party area as Phuket is which is what I wanted to avoid.   The thing that surprised me the most about Ao Nang is the massive amount of cannabis shops around here though. Luckily while being here, I didn't see lots of people picking up their offers - only a few tourists in their early 20s. What's normal though is the amoun...
